With the purchase of the Tomei T-TRAX Advance 2-Way, a 4.625 ring and pinion gear was also sourced.
Why did I choose the 4.625 that you find in the Nissan Xterra from 2001-2004? I like to stay in boost and being able to do drifty things without a lot of downshifting. I’ve talked to enough drivers, and they all confirm that the 4.625 ratio is the way to go. Not saying that the 4.083 found in the Silvia and 180SX is a dog, but I found myself downshifting more than what I care to. We’ll see what happens when the differential I am building with the 4.625 ring and pinion and Tomei T-TRAX Advance 2-Way is completed and prjkt MAYHEM is given a shakedown run.
Each driver has their own tastes and what works for them.
If you really want to know what ratios came in which cars for Nissan during the 90s through early 2K? Click on the pictures below.

As with anything, verify what you have with what you are getting or trying to do. Since we are using the 4.625 final drive ratio in conjunction with the Tomei T-TRAX Advance, it just doesn’t make any sense to reuse old bearings, shims and seals. A rebuild kit for Nissan S13 R200 differential from Weir Performance will be used to freshen up the differential. Not a whole lot of money. $208 US Dollars plus shipping
